Originally from Canada, Andrea has lived in Australia since 1992. She lives and works in the West Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. Her works are based primarily on analogue imagery and her explores the dynamics of memory—of what’s remembered and what’s forgotten; of what to take from the past but, equally, what to let be. There is no nostalgia here, but rather an unflinching look at the temporality of time —at its brilliance and purity but equally its distortions and figments of imagination.
Andrea holds both her BFA and MFA from RMIT University in Melbourne. Andrea’s work has been in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize 2014, The John Leslie Art Prize 2018 (Best Gippsland Work 2018) and most recently, the inaugural Darling Portrait Prize 2020 in the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra as well as the Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize 2020. Her work is held in private collections around Australia, Canada and in the permanent collection of the Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale.
