Collection: Laura White

Artist Statement

Laura White is an Australian realist painter known for her luminous still-life oil paintings that explore the quiet beauty of everyday objects. Working from her studio in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, she creates carefully composed works inspired by the natural world, the garden and her long-standing fascination with ceramics.

Seasonal botanicals, heirloom fruit and decorative vessels frequently appear in her compositions, rendered with a sensitivity to light, colour and atmosphere. Built through multiple layers of oil paint and translucent glazes, her paintings develop subtle tonal shifts and depth over time.

By keeping her compositions restrained and uncluttered, she allows each subject space to breathe, inviting viewers to slow down and notice the textures, reflections and delicate imperfections of the objects before them.

Her paintings begin with observation. She is drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday objects — a magnolia branch gathered from the garden, a bowl of fruit, or the gentle curve of a ceramic vessel.

In a fast-moving world, White’s paintings invite viewers to pause and rediscover the quiet elegance that exists within ordinary moments.
