Nerrida Parfitt is an Australian painter based in Ballarat in Victoria’s Central Highlands, working primarily in oil. Her practice draws on the surrounding landscape, merging observed environments with imagined and reconstructed elements to create atmospheric scenes that sit between the familiar and the uncanny. Influenced by Australian Gothic sensibilities and subtle surrealist undertones, her work explores landscape as both a physical and psychological terrain. Parfitt’s practice is supported by formal training in Visual Art and Graphic Design, alongside tertiary studies in Interactive Multimedia.
