Petra has been working as an artist since 2010. Her studio is in her backyard on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. She has always been fascinated by Australia’s unique nature, which inspires a lot of her artworks. “Beauty, colour, sunlight and finding a little story somewhere is what drives me to create”. Petra’s original training in textile design influences her use of pattern and colour as well as her inspiration drawn from impressionists, like Vuillard or Bonnard. Using mostly oils on canvas or wood she paints what surrounds her, her own animals as well as the flora and fauna she encounters while exploring in nature. Painting interiors her imaginations run free. Inside these often vintage inspired settings, the viewer gets to travel the world and encounters a menagerie of animals. Rooms start to have a life of their own, while colours and patterns set the mood.
