Artist Statement
I am a visual artist with no formal training, but with a daily studio practice. Working primarily in acrylic, my portraits and figurative works incorporate elements of abstract expressionism, using paint as a way to explore the complexities of human behaviour.
Based in Somers on the Mornington Peninsula, I began painting in earnest in 2016. My work often reflects themes of politics, social justice, human rights, gender identity, gender roles and feminism. Alongside my work as a medical practitioner with a strong interest in mental health, the studio provides a space to reflect on the human experience—particularly the experiences of women.
My work has been exhibited widely and is held in private collections across Australia, the UK, France, Canada, Singapore and the United States. Three works are held in the permanent collection at Château d’Orquevaux in France. I am represented by kellilundberg.art in Moorooduc.
