Collection: Wayne Elliott

Artist Statement

After one look at his work, Wayne Elliott’s story feels instinctive.

Growing up on Victoria’s vast Western Plains, he was surrounded by expansive farmland stretching far beyond the horizon. Yet from an early age, Wayne was driven to see beyond it — climbing Mt Elephant or sitting atop the towering silos of The Mallee in search of a broader view and a deeper sense of place.

This early curiosity continues to shape his practice today. Wayne has developed a distinctive, self-taught ‘outsider’ style, using bold colour and dynamic composition to tell expansive visual stories. His work spans vast landscapes, from rural plains to urban environments and stadiums, each imbued with a strong sense of narrative and perspective.

His work has been exhibited internationally, with shows in New York, Montreal, London and Berlin.
